Mutindi is a Certified Information Privacy Manager -by the International Association of Privacy Professionals-, a Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs Manager, a Tax Consultant, an Author and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She has 11+ years’ experience in legal operations, regulatory affairs, privacy compliance & innovation, public policy, government relations, consumer protection, external affairs and regulatory advisory services.
She has advised a wide range of domestic and international firms active in the Telecoms, Technology, Media, Finance, Fintech, Intellectual Property, Energy, Health and cyber security Sectors including: Safaricom, Google, Liquid Telecom, Microsoft East Africa, Amazon Web Service, Facebook(Meta), West Indian Cable Company (WIOCC), Kenya Commercial Bank- KCB (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia), National Bank of Kenya, Consolidated Bank of Kenya, Eco-Bank, Spire Bank, State Bank of Mauritius (SBM), Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), Kenya Revenue Authority, the Kenya Ministry of ICT, the ICT Authority, Uber, Radio Africa Group, the Ministry of Health, Kenyatta National Hospital, Nursing Council of Kenya. She has also coordinated cybercrime investigations with local and international law enforcement through collaborations with the DCI, the Communications Authority and the Kenya Cyber Incident Response Team (KE-CIRT).
Mutindi is responsible for Managing global privacy and data governance programs, consumer protection, external affairs, client regulatory issues, corporate compliance and reputation management with regulators, Government, key stakeholders and the public. She ensures the success of client business by helping them set up and run both local and global privacy programs & appropriate data governance frameworks, providing intelligence-led insights, analysis & advice, enabling business engagements with the right individuals and institutions in Africa to shape a supportive regulatory environment for client business across various markets in the African region.
She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) , Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and serves as a member of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute Liaison Committee for the LSK. Mutindi is also a member of the ICT Committee at the Pan African Lawyers Association (PALU) and a member of the Common Wealth Lawyers Association (CLA) and the Internet Society (Global, Kenya and Somalia Chapters as well as the Women , Youth and Cybersecurity Working Groups).
She has sat on the Kenya Joint Health Regulatory Preliminary Inquiry Committee as well as on the Nursing Council of Kenya Disciplinary Standards and Ethics Committee and the Nursing Council of Kenya Disciplinary Tribunal. She is always happy to be of service!
Mutindi believes in People, Technology and the Law. When she is not immersed in legal and policy affairs, she is reading a good book, eating some good food, taking in a great view at the summit of some mountain, doing yoga, writing something, bitmoji-ing 😉 singing or teaching some children somewhere. Whatever the case may be she is always happy, laughing or smiling.
